Vanta, one of my friend Spid's headmates and a voidhound, has a taste for rabbit. I have been told that I am particularly appealing to their palate even on top of that.

I've always found this to be strangely very flattering.

Welcome to Quicktober, where I literally just come up with whatever I want day to day, and force myself to spend no more than half an hour on each main element of the sketch.

A while back I was linked this lovely 3d design by Louie Zong, entitled "Thievery," because it seemed a fun analogue to the warrensworth of rabbit (and bonus fox and puppy, of course) bouncing around inside my head.

Being a little real for a moment here, I really wasn't having a great time today, but drawing all the bunnies in my system in such a minimalist style really cheered me up a lot. Adding Praline's single cocked eyebrow instantly cracked me up, officially making it the tiniest amount of pixels I've changed on a piece for the most amount of enjoyment.

Allow me some lofty prose as I close off this massive chapter of my life and prepare to move on to the next;

The times I've been going through lately have felt akin to a conflagration of the self - I've had such gloriously high highs and catastrophically low lows in a remarkably short amount of time that it's shattered a lot of my strongest-held personal preconceptions. These experiences have shone a stark light on sides of myself I've either taken fully for granted and have since changed, or been far too scared to stare at for any length of time - lest I break things I think I understand, or learn things about those I'd much rather not.

This piece is in large part related to one of the things I rubbed up against the hardest over the past several months, and it came to me after I saw a particularly poignant line that I extended to make mine. I've felt for the longest time that pursuing the things I value most always come at some great personal expense - usually leading me to choose between some forms of letting go in recalcitrance, or risking hurting myself in persistence.

Many of you know well that I'm both agonizingly ambitious and painfully passionate in ample measures, but I lack the reserves I desperately wish I did in order to fulfill those desires to the extent that I wish I could.

Sometimes this rolls over all the way into begrudging myself even a meager attempt at all, and berating myself for it; but by and large, this is a fairly antagonistic relationship that I have with myself and have been trying damn hard to make less toxic.

That's easier said than done, but saying it is certainly a start.

After designing Chocolate's regressed fantasy class as part of another project, she's lived rent-free inside my head and I just had to revisit her, even if just once more (I'd like to do more but I got enough on the pile as is).

Giving her the spotlight in a less constrained style - since I had to make the originals within specific parameters - was a lot of fun, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I would really like to elaborate further on the ideas I have about her lore and the way her spells work, but I'll hold off on that as incentive to do more with her in future.

Last weekend, I decided to eradicate my years-long upload backlog totalling about 200 images across nearly 150 posts in one fell swoop.

I don't have an exact date targeted right now, but I want to be done with this by the end of the week at the latest. I'm about halfway there as of posting this; there'll be a lot going up all at once when I'm done, so this is just as much a heads up as it is a warning. You'll be seeing a lot of me for a couple days.

Those of you subscribed here will have seen most of the art going up publicly since it'll have come up here months, if not years ago now. But I still hope you're excited for the news, cause it already feels like such a load off to have gotten all that upload work done and dusted.

Ah well. Lucky for them, the magic I dabble in is usually nice enough to make them enjoy the sudden and very dramatic changes that overcome them. It's just as well since they often tend to lead to many more changes in future.

I drew this yesterday. I'm doing better today, but it's definitely still a vibe.

"Thank you for being there for me and holding onto the tiny spark of hope that gets smothered by my fear."

This was recently inspired from a moment of clarity, following a stressful situation that a close friend helped talk me through, and reassure me while I was on the verge of spiraling.

A while back, I had a session with my therapist in which she urged me to spend some time acknowledging my journey and successes over the past year or so. It just so happened that the day before, I was scrolling through my chatlogs with another friend, where I rediscovered a message I'd sent them when I was at one of the lowest points of my depression.

"I don't know how I'm going to get better" was the gist of it.

Thinking about that literally, if I genuinely believed that I didn't have a path to recovery… Well, let's just say I can only conclude that even at the time, I still had some tiny spark of hope that I would get better. The alternative isn't worth considering. Talking it through with my therapist really drove that fact home, and it was quite the realization.

This represents the help I got with holding onto that glimmer I had deep down inside, even if I couldn't see it then.

I was inspired by a Twitter post made by Melody daring artists to draw their characters in a cute but admittedly rather minimalist outfit. The diaper was implied.

I improvised a little by making the overalls into a skirtall, for purely functional reasons as I'm sure you'll understand. Ruby seems to be having a little too much fun skating but luckily for her, she came more than prepared.

Around the middle of last year, I had a series of stressful events trigger a very real sense of crisis in me. This is that feeling put to paper, if only so I can both put it behind me and always remember where I'd gotten to from neglecting myself for so long.

In hindsight, the actual issues seem like they should've been trivial, if only a tad frustrating, but given that they caused one or more panic attacks (I wasn't aware of it at the time) it rightly gave pause for consideration, particularly as to why I reacted so adversely to them.

Following some reflection, communication, and lots of therapy, I've gotten to where I am today. While there were many other factors leading up to it, I consider this one event to be the turning point when dealing with my personal identity and considering my transition. I certainly could've benefitted from therapy a long while before then, but I wouldn't have known how to make the most of it without having experienced that crisis first.

Thinking back, there's a lot of what-ifs that spring to mind, but it's not worth considering it any more. I've committed to my path, I feel happier than ever, and at this point there's no better way for me to go than forwards.

Just some more experimentation with a blocky pixelated style, giving Soul Choco some love this time.

Playing around with the colours was a lot of fun and, amusingly enough, the purple and green hues are taken from a paint colour called "Mischief," the purple being the base, and the green its inverse. The two tones got blended together over the course of toying with and polishing up the picture, so the brighter pink got a little muted. However, the end result was pretty much spot on with where I was hoping to get with it.

Fun fact: this is now available as a clothing design on my merch stores!

Felt the urge to do some more experimentation during yesterday's stream, after being inspired again by the style of music I've been binging for the past couple of months.

Although a lot of different things got thrown into a blender to create this piece, if I had to pin it down to a single point of inspiration, it'd have to be NANORAY's recent release, ZAPPER. The track SALMON CANNON DELUXE is probably the one that comes closest to the vibe I ended up landing on, which is especially appropriate since I borrowed a lot, subconsciously or otherwise, from Splatoon's visual language while figuring out its execution.

I also exported and uploaded a timelapse to YouTube to show the sketching and linework process. The colour work took a bit of planning and thought, but since it consisted almost entirely of reusing parts of the image and flood-filling the rest, it goes by far quicker than it did in practice.

For what it is, this piece was extremely fulfilling for me to make and while it didn't quite end up exactly as I'd originally intended, I'm still so proud of how it turned out. I got to try out a handful of new techniques that I've added to my repertoire and look forward to reusing, and I'm certain we'll see these versions of Choco and Ruby turning up in my art again in future.
