Despite firing on all cylinders throughout Kinktober, I made time for Wolfie's October session for which he asked that we start working on a single bigger project. I was all for it, and when he explained it to me I was all in.

It speaks for itself, but I'm excited to see how it pans out. Gonna be pulling out all the stops with the colouring on this one.

July was rough for me, but I still got some sketches done in between bigger site art and commissioned work.

I was not doing okay for most of the time due to some major life events, and this resulted from a cute little comic that popped up on my Twitter feed and touched a nerve that was still quite raw from the experience.

Next is another silly thing from Twitter, based off of the "BIG X vs BIG Y" meme that was making the rounds at the time. It was a good excuse to draw something fun and cute for my good friends Wolfie and Ru at the same time, especially given, well, them.

I could've probably exaggerated the sizes a bit more but, eh.

Last but not least: wahs.

Plushie and I kept tossing back and forth a screencap I'd taken and captioned of one of the fuzzy dumbasses from the hundreds of videos we shared with each other, and figured it made a good base for a sticker for her as a little gift.

I also practiced trying to capture their iconic and adorable empty-headed vibes, with somewhat mixed success.

This year, I actually managed to make some art as gifts for my parents, as well as those who played somewhat of a significant parental role in my life at the time.

For Mother's Day, I made two main versions. One was for my actual Mother, while the other was meant as a gift for my sister-in-law, who also happens to be a mother, but also kind of assumed the role when I came out to her and my brother as trans.

She was so supportive, by helping me work through some of my emotional hangups at the time, that she accidentally satisfied the needs I so desperately wanted my actual mother to fulfil, despite her reservations regarding my eventual transition. I don't want to throw my mom under the bus, but this isn't the place to discuss her issues with my transition. All I'll say is that she's doing her best to be encouraging despite several, somewhat justified, concerns.

One of them was also meant for and adapted to a close friend of mine who was playing the part for me for a short, albeit very significant time around then. Things have unfortunately changed a tad between us since, but at least we both still hold on to those memories rather fondly.

I'd been meaning to do something likewise creative as a gift for my father. He's really into model trains - even though he insists that it's purely for my nephew's benefit - so I drew a simplified version of one of those he recently added to his collection.

This was the first time I'd addressed myself in such an overtly feminine way, and it felt good, if a little strange.

First up, some giftart: Starting with Bubbles who surprised me with this super sassy looking shortstack version of me! I genuinely think I look like a primary school teacher of some kind, which I really love. I decided to draw them looking as excited as they seemed to be while giving out all that fun art to folks.

Later on, I made another thing for Cody Omega as a reward for reaching an important milestone.

Next came the memes.

During the massive FurAffinity content policy update fiasco, my friend Seecret was putting in a lot of time and effort into figuring out just how deep the rabbithole of awful decision-making really went. So I decided to honor his service informing us of the extent of the management's ineptitude throughout the entire process with some giftart based off of an old timey war propaganda poster. It was a fun exercise to get it to match as closely as possible, while updating it to the vibe I was going for.

After I saw the Barbie mugshot drawover trend spreading I knew I had to get a piece of it with my two three bunny menaces. Just look at them; Choco and Choco know they're getting out by lunchtime.

Some direct Twitter references involving yours truly; the first inspired by how I was deliberately ignoring a backlog of notifications that I knew were mostly positive and affirming, to save them for when I needed a vibe boost.

The second was based on a quote I found going around, which I thought was particularly funny in my context. Seems a very appropriate thing for a bunnygirl to say.

And finally some more rough-sketched memes, this time in the form of direct redraws of others.

The first is a furry redraw of a couple of photos of foxes in cars with a similar look.

The second is a redraw of how Pikachu looks while riding your shoulder in one of the recent Pokémon remakes, kinda perched and staring off into the distance. I've unfortunately misplaced the screenshot so you'll have to take my word for it.

SammyRainbowCat reached out to me a while back as I was getting geared up to start taking commissions on the reg again, and asked me if I'd be up to taking on a character design project for it.

I said sure, not knowing what was in store for me.

It asked me to help them with a design for Asher, their albino, Jewish, nonbinary monitor lizard.

This was a little bit of a challenge that took me out of my comfort zone! That said, it was a heck of a lot of fun working with Sammy on this; it basically gave me free reign on the design with very minimal requests for alterations, so I decided to throw in a quick little extra sketch based off of an idea it mentioned to me while describing the design to me.

Just a couple of doodles I made for two friends who've been sending me daily affirmations to see me through a bit of a tough time lately, and which helped get me out of a bad art block.

First for Anonamouse, who's been encouraging me to keep trying my best to be my best in spite of my mistakes and setbacks. Second for Durrn the driger, who writes out inspirational quotes in calligraphy with hir collection of fountain pens and pretty inks, and has been sending them to me directly to help me practice a little mindfulness every day.

A set of animal sketch studies I made for practice; pine martens, bunnies, and baby red pandas.

I drew these for my partners Sigma and Arwyn a little while back, after we had a rather involved discussion about our relationships.

I woke up from a really intense and pleasant dream this morning at the ungodly (by my standards) hour of 6:30AM today. I felt inspired and didn't like the idea of losing half the day as I usually do by going back to sleep until just about midday, so I got up and had myself an early start.

Eventually, I made this, based loosely off of part of the dream I had.

I tried sketching with my pen tool on raster (as opposed to a vector layer) in this one; not the biggest fan of the workflow and how fixing certain errors ends up looking, but it's nevertheless a pretty viable way to get quick linework done.

Ruby and Tiff go to a party, and Tiff felt the need to flirt rather forwardly with the pink bun.

It wasn't necessary... But it probably still worked.

I absolutely adore all the expressions in this, especially Ruby's as she got increasingly flustered.

The other day I found myself in what I could only describe as the "perfectly inspired mental state," feeling like my whole brain was buzzing with energy and all sorts of ephemeral feelings that I could barely grasp.

All I was missing was one coherent concept - that's where the struggle began - but the real kicker came while looking for references. I was just trying to experiment with what little slivers of inspiration I could pin down for long enough to use, like some weird money booth made for ideas.

I found out something rather unfortunate about the subject I'd picked to work on, and that was that. I was upset and thrown completely off, but luckily, still not quite enough to stop me from making this bit of vent art.

Yas and Isaac sit on their roof together, enjoying the late night ambience of their neighbourhood while overlooked by the built-up city center off in the distance.

While working on this in stream, Dal made a suggestion of what's going on behind the scenes of this illustration. Although it wasn't exactly what I was going for, I kept the scene deliberately vague specifically to let folks fill in the gaps in this way. I liked the idea enough that it inspired me to put some audio to it to enhance the mood.
