I'm so pleased.

I got to participate in Artconomy's Brushie Awards, and after I put out feelers for folks to nominate me for the categories they felt I was suited for, I was set for a fun surprise. Imagine my excitement when last night, at the ceremony, I won the "Cutest Art" award, and then got nominated for every single category.

I'll not belabor the point, but for ages I've done my best not to let my wanting acknowledgement for my art get in the way of creating it. I want to focus on making for the sake of it above all else.

That shouldn't stop me from appreciating when it does come my way though. It really means the world to me, so I made something appropriate to commemorate, celebrate, and show my gratitude for it.

Thanks everyone. I might be aiming to do this for me,

But I've gotten as far as I have because of all of you.

(Fun fact: this is the first full illustration I made on my new 2-in-1 laptop. Aside from a few little quirks I'm finding ways to work around, I'm really happy with it!)

Poor boys got a rather fitting punishment after neglecting to empty their pails, doing chores while dressed rather embarrassingly for the neighborhood to see!

This has been in the works for a while now so it's good to have it done and dusted at last.

Wolfie and Ru picked this embarrassing scene for their boys in the last session we had, and then I gave it a splash of colour on my own time just in anticipation of perhaps polishing it up further at a later date.

My friend Piter commissioned some in-depth character design and refsheet work and I was happy to oblige.

It took a tad longer than I'd have probably liked but here he is, both little and large(ish)!

Honestly I love working on Procyon and their ilk; I do kinda cheat by lumping in Red Pandas along with them, but they are technically closer related to them than Giant Pandas! A zookeeper said as much to me.

I drew this for my dear friend Malachyte to absolutely destroy her in the nicest way I know how.

And I can say for a fact, we both had a lot of fun with the process of making it, too. You can tell by how she's actually a red panda, and yet her fur still isn't the brightest shade of crimson visible on her face.

Despite firing on all cylinders throughout Kinktober, I made time for Wolfie's October session for which he asked that we start working on a single bigger project. I was all for it, and when he explained it to me I was all in.

It speaks for itself, but I'm excited to see how it pans out. Gonna be pulling out all the stops with the colouring on this one.

My friend Malachyte has been exploring her little side a bit more actively as of late, and it's been a genuinely wonderful time helping and (somewhat zealously) encouraging her with that.

When she shared a sketch she'd made of herself in an adorable little's outfit and playing in a space to match, I jumped at the chance to contribute, and asked if she'd be okay with collaborating on the piece. Needless to say, she said yes.

Working with someone else's sketches is always such an interesting and exciting experience, cause there's a sort of conversation taking place at every step of the process. The linework is largely instructed by the sketches that are already in place, but there's a certain level of improvisation and decision-making that varies throughout; where the lines being worked on go anywhere from between being directly lifted up to the next layer, to just taken as vague suggestion.

I've always really admired Mal's artstyle and the expressiveness of her work, but also felt that our styles are almost adjacent to one another's. The entire process felt very natural to me as a result, thanks to several commonalities that they share.

As for how I feel about it? I fuckin' loved drawing her this way; it was just so much fun. Her sketches were a joy to work with, and even the parts I ended up improvising on or tweaking along the way felt trivial to do given her lovely anatomical work. Treating a friend to something like this is always special, and I'm really glad I got to do it, both with and for her.

A while back, I made this little gift for my good friend Piter; inspired by a conversation in a group chat we share.

I like Gravity Falls, so the combination of factors made this a fun idea to work on.

And guess what - this is a brand new YCH slot too! In an effort to revive the YCH commissioning system I set up years ago, I've now added the option for public slots that everybody can order! Some will still be reserved to patrons, especially when on discount or discontinued, but this way, everybody gets to have a turn.

I drew a bunch of stuff as part of gift art or trades lately!

Here's a little something Wolfie inspired with a cute photo they shared with me, and a meme we joked about a while ago.

The diapers are implied, okay?

Next up is an impromptu piece of giftart and equally spontaneous art trade, with Elly-Moo and Melody respectively.

Earlier this year I skipped a session for Wolfie, so we had a makeup stream last week to finally catch up again.

Here's some more cutesy diaper-related shenanigans with our favourite padded fox. Wolfie requested a handful of really fun ideas, with a few additions from myself while putting them to paper.

I put more time into fewer pieces, which made for a nice change. While I'm not the biggest fan of colouring, I can't deny that it elevates my work to the point where I need to start focusing on it a little more, possibly even taking time from polishing the sketch and linework of a piece in its favour.

The last little sketch was meant to fill out the time left over from the rest of the session. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I would've happily given it a quick coat of paint as well, if I had the time, in order to complete the set.

A nice mix of puffy, retro-styled pampers, cuteness and a little slice-of-life in this session.

The cuddle scene was a tad self-indulgent cause I needed a little comfort, and I took it as an opportunity to revisit an old technique that both Wolfie and Ru pointed out that they quite liked.

So here we go, back on the road again - from three years ago to the day as of last week, I've mustered up the courage to work on Happy Campers again. I'm excited for it, I hope you are too.

Going into this I'd like to try and manage expectations with it a little bit if I can; one of my major hangups with restarting Happy Campers was the risk of another years-long hiatus for whatever reason. The reality I'm faced with is that my output isn't as quick or consistent week-to-week or month-to-month as that of other artists, but I didn't want to disappoint people with what might seem like a bait-and-switch if I don't manage my work and maintain the comic for long enough to see it through.

In other words, I want this just as badly as anybody else does; it just feels like there's a fair bit riding on it and I hope I can do it right. Thanks for your patience.
